"You don't choose your totem animal, it chooses you." Native American Saying Raven: Corvus corax: The Common Raven was one of the many species originally described by Linnaeus in his 18th century work, Systema Naturae, and it still bears its original name of Corvus corax. It is widely distributed throughout the Northern Hemisphere and has adapted to diverse environments. It is a highly intelligent animal that possesses a remarkable range of vocalizations. Once mated they usually remain together and in the same nesting location for life. Virtually ever culture has stories related to the Raven, from trickster who brought light to the world to messenger between living and dead. More soon... ~N Some
erroneously assume my affinity (obsession?) for Ravens is related to
Poe, while I do find it to be a meaningful work personally, it is
not the reason. That said, I have placed a version of "The Raven"
online. It is a copy of a 1884 edition Illustrated by Gustave Doré.
".... And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor. Shall be lifted - nevermore! ..." Edgar Allan Poe "My Raven" from Harvest Fae |
