Why aren't you on facebook anymore? Actually, the question is why are you still there? Did you read the terms of service? If you did and your OK with them, well, then you're a very big part of what has gone really wrong in this country.

Ask yourself some questions:
Who is going to benefit from the facial recognition software they have implemented?
Why do they geolocate by IP address when you login? (it's not to prevent your account from being hacked)
Who designs the seemingly benign apps (Farmville, etc...) that you agree to share your data with, and by proxy your family and friends data, and how is that used? 
What corporations and Government agencies do they supply data to and how is that used? (It's not to deliver a more "tailored" experience, like that's a good idea anyway.)

But hey trust em, it's just the Internet and they said it was OK. And hey, what do I know, I'm just a crazy old man going off on a conspiracy theory (interesting term, works sort of like "denial" it kills any further examination). And just who the F*** am I, I am a crazy old man who has been designing and data mining from business websites for a very long time.

BTW- Not that you've read it, but Nineteen Eighty Four was a cautionary tale, not an instruction manual. Do yourself a favor and look into the ways your rights to privacy have been stripped over the last 10 years and how they continue to be taken away, even under the current administration. Ya been lied to, hoodwinked, and bamboozled.
